Building a list of people to send your print and email issues to is the most important part of the process here.
There are 2 types of lists you'll be sending your newsletter issues to:
- Your Power List -- the people who know, like, and trust you (past clients, friends, family, acquaintances, and warm leads) and whom you have contact information for (postal address or email address). You should send the print version to your highest-quality clients. They're worth spending print and postage for! If you're sending the email version, either send the email version to your lower-quality leads (since it's free) OR just send the email version to everyone. This gives you a chance to ask people who receive both print and email, which they prefer. And it's a good reason to contact them in a non-salesperson way.
- A Strategic Farming Area -- you can send the print version to a targeted geographic farm, but you cannot send the email version without permission. Email laws preventing spam prevent you from sending emails to those who haven't given you their email. You can collect emails by adding a sign-up form on your website, asking for them when you have sign-up forms at events. There are many ways to collect emails to add to your database.
